MLDv2 SWG
Objectives
This SWG is working on activities for ensuring the interoperability of the equipments that implemented "MLDv2 (Multicast Listener Discovery Version 2)" that is the basic technology of multicast communication of IPv6.
Background
The IPTV service and broadcast communication service using the Internet are service fields future growth is expected to be. These services can decrease the loads of servers and networks by using multicast communication rather than unicast communication. "MLDv2" is one of the basic technology of IPv6 multicast communication, and since it should be conjointly utilized for the demand of efficient use of a communication band widely, we consider that development of equipment and ensuring of quality need to be supported.
Purpose
We develop the test specifications and tools to validate the equipment as a means to ensure interoperability between equipments. The purpose of this activity is to promote the wide use of them, and to establish them as the international standard of test specification for the equipment.
Period
